DC256 is the Huntsville, Alabama DEF CON Group — a local meetup for hackers, tinkerers, and information security enthusiasts. We’re an open group welcoming everyone from seasoned professionals to curious newcomers.

It examines how droppers are used to stage and deploy secondary payloads, as well as the techniques used to monitor and record keystrokes at different levels of a system. Attendees will gain insight into common tooling, execution flows, and operational tradecraft, along with considerations for detection and defense.

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Evilginx and how it’s used in real-world adversary scenarios. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of setting up and operating the tool, then apply those skills in a self-contained lab environment designed to simulate an enterprise network. Participants will attempt to compromise as many users as possible, with different targets requiring different approaches and tradecraft, reinforcing adaptable attack strategies. Prerequisites: Please install Docker prior to the event. A download link for the lab container will be distributed ahead of time.

Wardrive Competition 2026 — Results Are In!

DC256's 1st Annual Wardriving Competition

Location: UAH I2C, Huntsville
Participants: 6  |  Total BSSIDs: 41,348  |  Prizes: $250

Our first annual wardriving competition is in the books! 6 participants hit the streets of Huntsville with Kismet rigs and WiGLE Android setups, capturing over 41,000 unique WiFi networks in just over an hour. JT (.luckypi) took 1st place with 96,445 points and 17,540 BSSIDs, Frank Tysons earned 2nd with 75,193 points and an impressive 57 WEP fossils, and K3rnel5anders won 3rd place for the most creative rig.
